Grūps App v0.9.0 is a substantial release that touches almost every part of the app. Here's what's new.

@Mentions in chat

Type @ in any group chat or thread to bring up a searchable member list, plus @here (active members) and @channel (everyone). Mentions are highlighted in the chat: your own name appears in amber, others in purple. A new @ badge shows your unread mention count, and you can filter the chat to show only your mentions. You can also set a per-chat notification level: all messages, @mentions only, or none.

AI features

Three new AI-powered capabilities are available for higher-tier groups:

  • Photo auto-tagging (Pro+) — photos are automatically tagged with people, places, and objects when uploaded to an album
  • File summaries (Team+) — AI generates a summary of any document in your group's file library
  • Chat AI summaries (Pro+) — get a summary of what you missed in a long chat thread

Rebuilt files system

The Files page has been completely rebuilt:

  • Grid, List, and Table views
  • Real-time search by name, title, or description
  • Select multiple files to move, tag, summarize, or delete in bulk
  • New folders appear instantly in the sidebar; uploaded files land in the current folder
  • Attach files from your group's library directly to Events and Posts (Pro+)

Resources

The Resources page now has compact list and grid views, with a detail panel for full info, image preview, tags, and actions. Select multiple resources to delete or add to a collection. Resources now support 16 types, each with its own icon. Attach resources to Posts and Events alongside files (Pro+).

Q&A improvements

The Q&A page now shows a two-column layout on desktop: subjects in the sidebar, thread alongside. Group admins can switch any Q&A subject to Voting mode — thumbs-up voting instead of a single accepted answer.

Web Pages (previously Content Pages)

Pages can be published or unpublished, reordered by drag-and-drop, and given a custom URL slug, meta description, and no-index setting. Long pages show a table of contents with active-section highlighting and a reading time estimate. Group admins can embed live widgets — polls, events, announcements, posts, chat, Q&A, lists, sign-ups, and a calendar — directly inside any Web Page (Pro/Premium).

Print and PDF export

Print buttons are now available on the Calendar, Members roster, Lists, Posts, Events, Sign-ups, Check-ins, and Member Profile pages. Export any printable page as a PDF with a single tap (Pro+).

SMS notifications

You can now receive SMS text reminders for upcoming events (Pro+) and SMS alerts for urgent group announcements (Team+). Notification preferences are now more detailed — control push, email, and SMS separately per group.

Calendar

Set your preferred first day of the week in Settings → Language. Day names display in your chosen language.

Posts and Bookmarks

Posts now open in a full-detail view with reactions, comments, and sharing; a compact card is used everywhere else. Group admins can create custom post types and custom filtered post views from Posts Settings.

Bookmarks are now available across almost everything in Grūps App — posts, events, polls, Q&A subjects and answers, lists, albums, photos, chat channels, individual messages, Web Pages, resources, and files. A dedicated Bookmarks page lets you filter by content type and search across all your saved items.

Mobile

  • Group admins can configure the mobile bottom navigation bar independently from the desktop sidebar (Basic+)
  • Activity dots appear on Posts, Announcements, and Polls tabs when there's new content
  • Tapping a day on the mobile calendar opens a slide-up drawer showing that day's events
  • Fixed dark mode on Android: status bar and navigation bar now display correctly

Bug fixes

  • Fixed registration errors for new accounts, including a clear message for duplicate emails
  • Accepting an invite to a full group now shows a clear message
  • Fixed broken group creation and group status changes
