Grūps App v0.9.5 brings more control over who joins your group, a smoother sign-in experience, a more flexible Q&A system, and web subscriptions — plus a solid round of fixes across chat, maps, and the wider app.

Security & Account

When signing in with two-step verification, you can now mark a device as trusted for 30 days — so you won't be asked for a code again on that device. Password reset now works via a code sent to your email (no SMS required), and a new Recent Account Activity list in Settings → Security shows your sign-ins, password changes, and other account events with location, device, and time.

Verification and reset emails now include a reminder to check your spam or junk folder if nothing arrives.

Groups

Group admins can now enable join requests, with an optional approval step before someone becomes a member. Pending requests appear in the Members page where admins can approve or reject each one with an optional reason. Non-members who land on a group's page now see a friendly screen with options to request to join, view the About page, or navigate back — no more confusing error.

Admins can also set Terms of Agreement that members must accept before joining, with template options and — on higher plans — the ability to upload a PDF document.

Auto-generated group avatars now use only that group's own colours, and group-scoped display names now appear consistently everywhere: chat, posts, files, Q&A, polls, bookings, albums, and more. Leaving a group and creating a new group both work reliably again.

Q&A

Q&A subjects now support four specialised modes: Help Desk, Notice Board, Feedback, and Community Q&A — each with its own labels, posting rules, and voting behaviour. A new Q&A Global Settings page lets admins manage, reorder, and delete all subjects in one place.

Subscriptions & Payments

You can now subscribe to a plan directly in the app on web, with receipt emails sent after every successful payment. Cards that require an extra verification step (3DS) are handled with an inline prompt instead of failing silently, and a success message appears once your upgrade is confirmed.

Maps & Location

Map labels now render correctly on vector tile maps. Switching between light and dark mode while viewing a map no longer crashes, and trip routes display as a clean solid line without extra dots along the way.

Chat

Images in chat load correctly and display without a grey background box. The sender's name and timestamp now appear on the same line — with the timestamp right-aligned — and messages use the full screen width on mobile.

Fixes & Polish

  • Custom group colours now apply correctly to gradient text and gradient buttons throughout the app
  • Event reminders are now properly scheduled and will fire at the right time
  • Deleted content, unverified accounts, and inactive push tokens are now cleaned up automatically on a regular schedule
  • Uploading a group profile picture is no longer blocked
  • The "Blank (no prefix)" announcement type is now available when creating an announcement
  • Back buttons on several pages now go to the actual previous page instead of a fixed destination
  • Group sidebar navigation correctly hides sections that have been turned off in settings
  • Accepting an invitation you've already accepted now shows a friendly message instead of an error
  • Photo uploads now show the specific reason if something goes wrong, instead of a generic error
  • Vibrant photos keep their full colour range when compressed — no more washed-out images
  • Dropdown menus have a more consistent look in both light and dark mode
