What's New in v0.11.1
This is one of the biggest updates Grūps App has shipped. From a fully new Tasks system to live maps that actually feel live, there's a lot to explore — here's what's changed.
Live Maps & Location
The map view has been significantly upgraded. Member avatars now display live speed, glide smoothly between position updates, and cluster together when several members are nearby. Tap any avatar to see their distance from you, pull up directions, or browse a 20-minute trail of where they've been.
Behind the scenes, location updates arrive faster, live tracking reconnects automatically if it drops, and several map loading and reliability issues have been resolved.
Trips
Trip cards now surface useful stats — max speed and average speed — at a glance. Thumbnails generate in the background, load faster, and display correctly in dark mode. Two long-standing annoyances are also fixed: the straight-line jumps that occasionally appeared on routes, and the bulky empty state on live trip cards.
Places & Map Panel
A small but welcome change: selecting an address now auto-fills the place name field, saving a few taps. The icon picker and preview marker are also more visually consistent. Points of interest — cafés, shops, parks, and more — are now labeled on the map and colored by category, making it easier to orient yourself at a glance.
Announcements
Admins can now pin announcements to the group home page, where they display as a rotating banner. The announcements page has also been redesigned for a cleaner look, and a bug that caused a blank form when editing an existing announcement has been fixed.
Files & Resources
File activity is now much more visible. New uploads appear in the activity feed with unread counts and push notifications. Several other improvements round out the experience:
- A shared Recycle Bin for deleted files
- Client-side thumbnail generation
- Duplicate-name warnings before overwriting
- Correct per-group storage limits
- Files can now belong to multiple Collections
- Bulk-import resources by pasting a list of URLs
Tasks — New!
Tasks is a brand-new feature in this release. You can now create task lists inside a group, with support for priorities, due dates, assignees, subtasks, comments, and attachments. A personal My Tasks view brings together everything assigned to you across all your groups, and notifications keep you informed of new assignments, comments, and approaching due dates.
Q&A, Posts, Polls & Recognitions
Q&A subjects, poll and album navigation, and Recognitions have all moved into the group sidebar, each with unread indicators so nothing gets missed. Posts are now organized by type, and a new bookmark, share, and send-to-chat menu appears on post cards. Live poll vote counts have also been fixed.
Notifications & Badge
The app icon badge now accurately reflects all unread activity across the app, and push notifications deep-link directly to the relevant content. Group notification emails now show the group's name, and notification preference toggles are fully enforced.
Group Rules & Settings
Group Rules now support numbered lists, inline links, and a welcome message that new members must read and accept before joining. Admins can also choose a banner style for pinned announcements.
Support & Feature Requests
You can now submit a Feature Request directly from the app menu. The Support home page has been redesigned, and the ticket timeline view is cleaner and easier to follow.
Other Improvements
The rich text editor now includes find and replace. The "Replay Help" tour has been expanded to cover 18 major features, loads faster, and is page-aware — so you see the tour relevant to where you are. The admin dashboard is now a single scrollable page, several iOS and iPad UI glitches have been resolved, and external links in posts now show a warning before navigating away from Grūps App.
