Annual Billing

Paying annually costs the same as 10 months — saving you roughly 17% (about 2 months free) compared to monthly billing.

The billing interval toggle on the Plans page switches between Monthly and Annual pricing. Annual is marked with a "Best value" badge. You can switch from monthly to annual (or back) at any time — the change takes effect at your next billing date, with any proration applied automatically.

Upgrading

Upgrading moves you to a higher plan immediately. You are charged a prorated amount today for the remainder of your current billing period, then the full new rate on your next billing date.

  1. Go to Settings → Plans.
  2. Select the plan you want to upgrade to.
  3. Review the confirmation — it shows the prorated charge due today and the full rate starting on your next billing date.
  4. Tap Confirm upgrade.
  5. If your bank requires additional verification, a 3D Secure dialog appears in the browser. Follow the prompts (e.g. enter a code sent to your phone) to authenticate the payment. The upgrade only completes after verification passes.

If you don't have a payment method on file, you are prompted to add one before the upgrade can complete.

Upgrade takes effect immediately A green confirmation toast appears once your payment is processed. All features of the new plan are available to you right away — you don't need to restart the app.

Downgrading

Downgrading to a lower plan takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you are not charged less today, and there is no refund for unused time.

  1. Go to Settings → Plans.
  2. Select the lower plan.
  3. Review the confirmation — it shows the effective date when the new (lower) rate and plan limits will apply.
  4. Tap Confirm change.
Downgrading may affect your groups If your groups currently exceed the new plan's limits (member counts, storage, features), those groups will be restricted when the downgrade takes effect. Review your groups before confirming a downgrade.

Cancelling

Cancelling your subscription moves you to the Free plan at the end of your current billing period. You retain full access to your paid plan until that date.

  1. Go to Settings → Plans.
  2. Tap Cancel plan (below your current plan summary).
  3. Read the warning about what changes on the Free plan — features, group sizes, and any admin roles that require a paid plan.
  4. Tap Cancel plan to confirm.

After cancelling, your plan summary shows a notice: "Moves to Free on [date]." Tap Reactivate at any time before that date to undo the cancellation and stay on your current plan.

Billing Portal

The billing portal (web only) lets you manage your payment method and view invoice history.

Go to Settings → Plans and tap Manage billing (or the link on your plan summary). From there you can:

Billing portal is not available in the mobile app Payment method management and invoice history are available on the Grūps App web app only. On mobile, subscriptions are managed through the App Store or Google Play.

Restore Purchases

If you subscribed through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), your subscription is tied to your store account, not directly to your Grūps App account. If you reinstall the app, switch devices, or log into Grūps App on a new device, you may need to restore your purchase.

On the Plans page in the mobile app, tap Restore Purchases. Grūps App contacts the App Store or Google Play to verify your active subscription and updates your plan accordingly.

Use the same store account Restore Purchases only works if you are signed into the same Apple ID or Google account that originally made the purchase.

Plan History

The Plans page includes a collapsible Plan history section showing every plan change on your account — upgrades, downgrades, cancellations, and reactivations. Each entry shows the date and the transition (for example, "Pro → Premium").

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I try a paid plan before committing?

Grūps App may offer a free trial on new accounts or promotional upgrades. If a trial is available, it is shown on the Plans page before you confirm. Trial periods are indicated with a countdown in your plan summary.

What payment methods are accepted?

On the web, Grūps App accepts all major credit and debit cards via Stripe, as well as Apple Pay on supported browsers and devices. On iOS, payment is handled by the App Store (Apple ID billing). On Android, payment is handled by Google Play.

Will I lose my data if I downgrade to Free?

Your data is not deleted when you downgrade. However, some features may become inaccessible if they are not included in the Free plan, and groups that exceed Free plan limits (e.g., more than 10 members) will be restricted until the membership is reduced.

How do I get a receipt for my payment?

Grūps App automatically emails you a receipt after every successful payment. The email includes your plan name, billing interval, amount charged, next billing date, a link to view the invoice online, and a PDF download link. It is sent to the email address on your Grūps App account.

You can also access all past invoices in the billing portal: go to Settings → Plans → Manage billing and scroll to Invoice History.

What happens to my subscription if I delete my account?

Account deletion cancels any active subscription. No further charges are made after deletion. Refunds for unused time are not provided — download your data and cancel your subscription before requesting deletion if you want to retain access until your paid period ends.
