Recognitions

Send a shoutout, a thank-you, a congratulations — expressed as a bold, animated word that makes people feel seen.

What are Recognitions?

Recognitions let you express appreciation, motivation, or celebration to one or more group members. Each recognition is built around a single word — rendered in a bold, metallic 3D style — that captures the sentiment.

Recognitions are great for:

Received & Sent

Open Recognitions from your group's navigation. Two tabs organize what you see:

Tap the Filter button to filter either tab by recognition category. A dot on the button indicates a filter is active.

On mobile, swipe left on the content to switch to the Sent tab, or swipe right to return to Received.

Recognition Cards

Each recognition is displayed as a card. Cards on the Received tab glow with a colored outline when unread — tapping the card marks it as read.

A card contains:

Read status (Sent tab)

Cards on the Sent tab show how many recipients have read the recognition:

Adding Your Support

If you receive a recognition that was sent to someone else — or if you see one in chat — you can add your support to show you agree with the sentiment.

The support section appears on cards where you are neither the sender nor a recipient. It shows:

Tap Add Your Support to back the recognition. The button changes to "You Backed" with a filled heart, styled in the recognition's category color. Your avatar joins the supporter row.

Sending a Recognition

Tap the + button in the Recognitions page header (or the Send Recognition button in the Sent tab's empty state) to open the 3-step send wizard.

Step 1 — Choose a Category

Tap a category to select it and move to Step 2 automatically. See Categories for the full list.

Step 2 — Choose the Word

For most categories, a set of preset word options appears as selectable pills. Tap one to select it and advance to Step 3 automatically.

If you selected Make My Own, type your own word (up to 24 characters) and tap Continue.

Step 3 — Preview & Send

The final step shows a live preview of the recognition and lets you customize it before sending.

  1. Choose a metallic finish — Gold, Silver, or a custom color using the color picker. The 3D preview updates instantly.
  2. Add an exclamation mark (optional) — tap the ! toggle to append one. The preview updates live.
  3. Write a personal message (optional) — up to 120 characters. Appears below the 3D word on the card.
  4. Choose recipients — search and select one or more group members. You cannot send a recognition to yourself.
  5. Share to chat (optional) — enable this to also post the recognition as a card in a group chat.
  6. Tap Send Recognition.

Each recipient receives a push notification and can find the recognition in their Received tab. The form resets to Step 1 after sending so you can send another straight away.

Categories

Each category has its own icon, color, and a set of preset words to choose from:

Make My OwnType your own word (up to 24 characters)

Custom Words

Select Make My Own from the category grid to type any word or short phrase you like — up to 24 characters. The custom word is rendered in the same 3D metallic style as the preset options.

Use this for things like a name ("ALEX!"), a sports chant ("LET'S GO"), a milestone ("100 DAYS"), or anything the preset list doesn't cover.

Sharing

Tap the share icon on any recognition card to share it outside the app. This uses your device's native share sheet — you can send it via messages, email, social media, or copy the link. The shared content includes the category, the recognition word, recipient names, sender name, and any personal message.

You can also share a recognition to a group chat when sending it (Step 3) — enable the Share to Chat toggle and select a chat room. The recognition appears as a card in chat that other members can tap to view and support.

Content Filter & Moderation

If the group admin has enabled the Content Filter, recognitions are screened before they are delivered. The filter checks both the recognition word (when using Make My Own) and the personal message. If either triggers the filter, the most severe action applies — a flag takes priority over a replace.

Depending on the enforcement mode:

Flagged recognitions are not shared to chat If a recognition is flagged and sent to the queue, it will not appear in chat even if the sender enabled Share to Chat. Chat sharing only occurs after the recognition is approved.

Admins and moderators review flagged recognitions from the Moderate tab on the Admin Dashboard. See the Content Filter guide for full details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I send a recognition to more than one person?

Yes. In Step 3, use the recipient selector to choose as many group members as you like. Each recipient receives their own notification and sees the recognition on their Received tab.

Can I edit or delete a recognition I sent?

Individual members cannot edit or delete sent recognitions. Admins can remove any recognition if needed.

Will the recipient be notified?

Yes. Each recipient receives a push notification when a recognition is sent to them.

What does "backing" a recognition do?

Backing a recognition lets other members who weren't the sender or recipient show their agreement or support. Your avatar appears in the supporter row on the card, and a summary like "Alice and 3 others backed this" is visible to everyone who can see the card.

Can I send a recognition to myself?

No. Your name is excluded from the recipient list when sending a recognition.
